The hCG, human Chorionic Gonadotropin hormone, diet has stirred up quite a bit of controversy. Proponents of the diet claim it gives people amazing weight loss potential while those against the hCG diet claim it’s a dangerous and ultimately ineffective way to lose weight. Are you ready for the truth behind the controversy?
The truth is – they’re both right.
The hCG diet does give its dieters the ability to lose weight at an unbelievably fast rate. However, if abused, the hCG diet can be incredibly destructive. On top of its unhealthiness, you could easily gain back all the weight you lost even more quickly than when you lost it!
Sounds like the negatives outweigh (pun intended) the positives right?
Well there’s a bit more to it than that. See, one of the major issues with most hCG diets is that they most of its advocates expect people to just know what they should and shouldn’t eat. They throw the 500 calorie diet at you, you look at the calorie count of a Hostess cake and think, “Damn, I can’t eat anything!”
For those struggling with the hCG diet, we have two tips that will lead to better, healthier results.
Taking hCG isn’t meant to be a permanent fix. The point is to help boost your metabolism in the mean time while you build a better natural metabolism. You can do this by obtaining muscle mass. Muscle eats up more calories than fat. The more muscle you have, the higher your natural metabolism is going to be. Sure, you’re going to have to work out regularly to keep your muscle – if you don’t use it, you lose it – but you’ll find keeping the weight off much easier in the long run.
- Eat Better, Not Less
There are too many diet misconceptions for me to cover right now. Do a little research – it is your health we’re talking about here after all – and find ways you can eat healthier instead of less.
You don’t have to cut out all the tasty stuff either! There’s plenty of delicious, non-vegan/vegetarian food that you can continue to enjoy. You just might need to enjoy it in a little more moderation until you get down to your target weight.
Add a little common sense and critical thinking and you’ll be well on your way to the shape you’ve always dreamed of. Your weight loss goals are possible. Just diet smarter, not harder.
